Dynamic Extension and Flexion Splints: Infant and Pediatric Splints

Dynasplint Systems, Inc. is the only company to develop infant and pediatric dynamic knee splints. While the knee extension splint is available for both infants and children, the knee flexion splint is available in pediatric size only. These dynamic knee splints can be used to treat joint stiffness and restore lost range of motion due to injury, trauma, surgery or disease. This range of motion is ever so important during the critical development stages for an infant, child or young patient.

The adjustable, comfortable dynamic extension and flexion splints will be individually fit to the young patient by a trained Dynasplint® consultant who will also work with the doctor or therapist to oversee range of motion therapy. Although the wearing schedule can vary, the device is typically worn for 6-8 hours a day during relaxation (2-4 hours in the beginning). These infant and pediatric splints apply a low-load, prolonged-duration stretch (LLPS) across the joint using a tensioning system. This constant, gentle stretch to the joint permanently elongates previously shortened connective tissue.

The dynamic extension and flexion splints for the knee can be used alone or with therapy. Want to continue with the positive results achieved in your infant, child or young patient’s therapy session? Consider the continuous, gentle stretch of the Dynasplint®. It’s like having the physical therapist’s hands at home! The end result: regained, lasting range of motion.
