ORIF (Open Reduction Internal Fixation)

A definition of ORIF (Open Reduction Internal Fixation)

In some cases, when a patient has a severe fracture, an open reduction internal fixation surgery is necessary, where plates, pins and screws will be placed in the bone. After surgery, when a patient has been cleared for passive range of motion, a dynamic splint will help them strengthen and extend the affected joint to regain range of motion. A Dynasplint® System provides a low-load, prolonged-duration stretch of the soft tissue. If you have had an open reduction internal fixation, you may want to consider wearing a orthopedic rehabilitation device like a Dynasplint® System to aid in your recovery process.
