The main reason for a TKR is to relieve the pain and disability resulting from degenerative arthritis. The surgery consists of replacing the diseased and painful joint surfaces of the knee with metal and plastic components shaped to allow continued motion of the knee. After surgery, a patient is often left with shortened connective tissue and may have a difficult time walking normally again. Wearing a dynamic knee splint will lengthen and remodel the tissue to restore range of motion. If you have had a total knee replacement, you may want to consider wearing a Dynasplint® System to aid in your recovery process.
