Frozen Shoulder

A definition of Frozen Shoulder (Stiff Shoulder or Painful Shoulder)

Frozen shoulder is the common name for gradual loss of ability to move your shoulder in all directions. The loss of movement can occur from inflammation, scarring and long term immobility. Conditions such as tendonitis, bursitis and rotator cuff injuries can all lead to frozen shoulder. This also may occur more frequently in patients with diabetes and inflammatory arthritis. When suffering from a frozen shoulder, the shoulder becomes very fibrotic, much like a cobweb, and needs to be broken up through stretching. Frozen shoulder is a debilitating condition and you may want to consider using a dynamic splint to aid in your rehabilitation process. A Shoulder Dynasplint® System is designed to break up the fibrous tissue by providing a gradual stretch, lengthening the muscles and tendons to begin restoring range of motion.
