Elbow Fracture
A definition of Elbow Fracture (broken elbow)
An elbow fracture is any break in the bone often causing stiffness and a lack of range of motion. Symptoms of a fracture include pain on the outside of the elbow, swelling in the elbow joint, difficulty in bending or straightening the elbow and inability in turning the forearm. The soft tissue, made up of ligaments, tendons and muscles, needs to be lengthened and remodeled to return full mobility of the joint. Wearing a dynamic splint for 6-8 hours per day or night will provide a gradual and long lasting stretch, restoring range of motion. If you have had an elbow fracture, you may want to consider wearing an elbow recovery device like the Dynasplint® System to aid in your recovery process.
