Build A Better Breakfast

Eating a balanced breakfast each morning is one of the best habits you can adopt. Give Fall a jump start and begin your day with a smart and powerful boost – eat breakfast!

Below are five fast and easy breakfasts that will kick-start your metabolism and give you the energy you need to power through the day.

  1. Smoothies – throw everything into a blender and three minutes later you have a tasty breakfast on the go. What could be easier than that?! Smoothies are a great way to get in lots of fruits and vegetables without taking a lot of time. Best part is that it’s a portable on the go meal too!

         Here are a few tasty combinations:

  • Almond milk, frozen spinach, frozen banana, frozen mango, frozen blueberries, ground flax seed.

  • Kale, almond milk, berries, banana, almond butter and rolled oats

  • Spinach or kale, coconut water, peeled orange, pineapple, blueberries and chia seeds

  • Spinach, almond milk, banana, mango, pumpkin spice, pure vanilla extract

2.  Crock-pot Oatmeal – this is a no brainer. Add oats, milk and water to the crock-pot. Turn on when you go to bed and when you wake up you (and the whole family) will have delicious oatmeal waiting for you. Top with nuts, fruit and a dash of cinnamon or drizzle of maple syrup and have a delicious meal that literally takes no time to prepare. Make a large enough batch and reheat individual portions in the microwave all week long.

3. Cereal with banana and almond milk – cereal is easy to have on hand and quick to prepare. Be sure to select one high in fiber and low in sugar. Add a banana, peach, berry or other fruit of choice on top and enjoy with milk or almond milk for a satisfying and fulfilling quick meal.

4. Egg Sandwich – this takes an extra minute to prepare, but really only one extra minute. Whipping up a fried egg sandwich couldn’t be easier. Purchase English muffins or whole grain bread to keep on hand, fry egg, add some fresh spinach leaves, slice of tomato (optional) and a jigger of either hot sauce or slice of cheese and boom! you have a delicious and hot protein packed breakfast. Wrap in foil and enjoy on the go if you don’t have time to eat right away. It’s delicious on the go too.

5. Banana Dog – spread natural peanut or almond butter on one side of a whole wheat tortilla. Place a peeled banana in the center. Wrap up and enjoy!
